Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 (Computer Based Test) on 19/01/2020 for selection for recruitment to following 102 posts of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) in Geological Survey of India (GSI) and in Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) departments of Government of India.

1. Geologist Group A
No of posts: 
79 vacancies in Geological Survey of India

Age: 21-32 years as on 01/01/2020
Educational Qualification: Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resources Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956).

2. Geophysicist Group A
No of posts: 
05 vacancies in Geological Survey of India

Age:
 21-32 years as on 01/01/2020
Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

3. Chemist Group A
No of posts: 
15 vacancies in Geological Survey of India

Age: 
21-32 years as on 01/01/2020
Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

4. Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A
No of posts:
 03 vacancies in Central Ground Water Board

Age: 21-35 years as on 01/01/2020
Educational Qualification: (a) Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
(b) Master's degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

Application Fee:
 Rs. 200/- to be paid either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card. No fee for SC/ST/PH/Female candidates.

* The recruitment examination will be held at various centres across the country. The Main Examination will be held on 27th & 28th June 2020. (Examination Notice No. 02/2020‐GEOL)
